Adding extra value to attendees this year, we’ve added Super Sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning before the educational breakout sessions start.  Three speakers with unique and insightful messages were chosen, with ILTA sponsors covering the costs for each.

Tuesday Super Session – 8:00 a.m.
The Cloud and Law2020: Where Megatrends and Vision Collide

Rarely does ILTA invite a keynote speaker back for a second consecutive year. But where better to have an encore presentation than this year's event in Las Vegas, and who better to do it than last year's keynote speaker, Tom Koulopoulos. During ILTA 2009, Tom wowed attendees with his views on innovation. This year Tom has agreed to join us once again to share his views on the the cloud. Tom will also join us after his session for a full 45-minute "unplugged" question and answer session. Global companies such as HP, Microsoft, and Intel have sought out Tom's views on the cloud, and now you'll be able to do the same in this exclusive ILTA encore session.

Following the Super Session, Tom will provide more value to attendees in his "Ask the Expert" session at 9:00 a.m. The roundtable format allows the audience to get specific answers to their questions. You don't want to miss this powerful back-to-back keynote and Q&A with Tom.

Everywhere you turn, there's lots of chat about "The Cloud," and there are also lots of questions. How will the cloud change the way we build our firms to address the challenges of Law2020? How does it impact the way in which we interact internally and with clients? When do we need to start building our IT, business and marketing approaches to work within the cloud? Tom Koulopoulos returns to ILTA this year to help us navigate the many dimensions of the cloud, from new models for client engagement to radically new models for teaming and employment. Tom will help you to understand why the cloud will have an impact on nearly every aspect of our business and our lives, from how we work to how we play, making it The global megatrend of this century.

Tom Koulopoulos is Founder of the Global Think Tank, Delphi Group. He is also the author of eight books including his most recent best selling book, The Innovation Zone. Tom has been praised by luminaries such as Peter Drucker, VISA founder Dee Hock, and Management Guru Tom Peters, who called his writing, "a brilliant vision of where we must take our enterprises to survive and thrive." According to Peter Drucker, Tom's writing "makes you question not only the way you run your business but the way you run yourself." Forbes.com has called him a business visionary with an incisive view of world trade, and InformationWeek named him one of the industry's top ten consultants.

Conquering the Tough Times Ahead

In this tough economic environment, law firms and law departments have to work harder to overcome obstacles and coordinate their efforts to thrive. Fear and self doubt can set in. But as Manny Medrano will discuss, such barriers can be overcome. Born into an impoverished immigrant household, Manny pulled himself out of a crime-ridden barrio to go on to graduate from Harvard College and Harvard Law School. He is an Emmy award-winning television news broadcaster and a former federal narcotics prosecutor who braved death threats to successfully prosecute the drug cartel leaders that kidnapped, tortured and murdered DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena in 1985. With humor and unflinching passion, Manny will challenge you to conquer fear and uncertainty during these difficult times. He’ll inspire you to embark on your own journey of self-discovery and empowerment as a means to reach personal and professional goals.

Manny Medrano has covered some of the most important national news stories of the past decade from the Supreme Court. His coverage of the 1995 OJ Simpson case earned him an Emmy Award. Prior to this career in media, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Los Angeles U.S. Attorney’s Office, where he braved death threats to successfully prosecute the drug cartel leaders that kidnapped, tortured and murdered DEA federal agent, Enrique Camarena. An embodiment of the American success story, Manuel’s personal journey has taken him from a gang-infested barrio to the pinnacle of journalism as an Emmy-award winning network correspondent.

Finding the Funny in Change

As technology experts in the legal arena, you know that “change” is the norm. But before you can even participate in the change surrounding you at work, you need to know how you, personally, are going to handle it. Comedian and professional speaker Jan McInnis offers practical tips and lots of humor to give you the inside scoop on dealing with, and even embracing, change. You’ll learn what to do and what to avoid doing when change is upon you, as well as how to create and use humor to diffuse tense change situations. This session promises plenty of learning and laughing.

For comedienne and professional speaker Jan McInnis, life is full of “finding the funny.” Inspired by fifteen years as a marketing director in the 9 to 5 world, Jan has spent the past 14+ years on the full-time speaking circuit, providing keynotes and programs at hundreds of conferences, training sessions, employee retreats and banquets held by such groups as Orange County Bar Association, The Kansas Correctional Association, SAIC, and The California Counties Information Services Directors Association. Jan was featured in the Wall Street Journal as one of the top convention comedians whose material is clean, and she has written for everyone from the Tonight Show monologue to greeting cards and hundreds of radio stations.
